A 31-year-old Brazilian model, Cris Galera, who married herself is divorcing herself three months later because she has met someone else. She stated that she was content as long as her marriage to herself lasted. Speaking to the Daily Star, she says that despite her vow to go alone, she met someone special and fell in love.
Galera made news in September after marrying herself in a formal ceremony and not being unhappy that she didn’t have a spouse. Earlier, while speaking about marrying herself, Cris had said, “I reached a point where I matured, I realized that I am a strong and determined woman. I was always afraid of being alone, but I realized that I needed to learn to feel good about myself. When that happened, I decided to celebrate it.”
Talking about the divorce, she states she was content with her single marriage. “I started to believe in love the moment I met that someone special. “Although during my wedding I felt afraid of being alone, it then hit me that I needed to feel good about myself,” she adds. Trolls also left her hateful comments. She claimed she was not paying attention to them at the time. “I decided that I would no longer read the hate comments. People’s opinion will not change what I think or add anything to it,” she said.
The Brazilian model stated that self-marriage increased her self-esteem and confidence. “People have asked me questions like, ‘Am I cheating on myself?’ I’m not sure if they are just wanting to be sensational, or are being very simplistic and old-fashioned in how they are thinking about marriage, but I always tell them it’s in the definition,” she adds.
