Chinese man blacklisted from 'all you can eat restaurant' for eating too much

In a bizarre incident, a Chinese man has been blacklisted for eating too much. For a long time, live streamers have been drawn to “all-you-can-eat restaurants.” In an unusual event, a Chinese cuisine live-streamer known as Mr. Kang alleges that he was blacklisted from a barbecue buffet restaurant in Changsha city, Handadi Seafood BBQ Buffet, for eating too much.

The man claims the restaurant is “discriminatory” against people who can eat a lot. He told Hunan TV that he ate 1.5kg of pork trotters during his first visit. He also consumed 3.5kg to 4kg of prawns on another visit. “I can eat a lot – is that a fault?” he says. The restaurant owner, on the other hand, had a different perspective on the situation. Telling the reporter that every time Mr. Kang visited his restaurant, he would lose a few hundred yuan.

“Even when he drinks soy milk, he can drink 20 or 30 bottles. When he eats the pork trotters, he consumes the whole tray of them. And for prawns, usually, people use tongs to pick them up, he uses a tray to take them all,” he says. Not just Mr. Kang, but all live streamers have been banned from the restaurant, the owner informs.

The news is trending on Chinese social media. Over 250 million views on Weibo and a diverse spectrum of viewpoints. Some have said that the restaurant should not be an all-you-can-eat establishment if people cannot afford it, while others have expressed sympathy for the business owner. The Chinese government began cracking down on eating influencers last year, and such videos may be outlawed entirely in the country. It occurred after President Xi Jinping urged citizens to “fight against food waste” amid growing fears over food scarcity.
