500 people feel sting as rare storm brings scorpions’ flood in Egypt

We have all heard about rainstorms, hailstorms, sandstorms, etc. But can you imagine a storm that brings scorpions with it? Sounds scary right? Storms typically bring heavy rainfall, but this time they also brought a river of scorpions to Egypt. The city of Aswan is along the Nile River in Egypt. Over the weekend, the place faced heavy rainstorms. According to media reports, it only lasted an hour but delivered a flurry of water and scorpions.

Scorpions stung over 500 people. Resulting in a massive rush to hospitals for anti-venom injections. Not only this, but almost 100 dwellings suffered damage. However, there were no casualties as a result of the scorpion attacks.

There are plentiful of them in Aswan during the summer months when the weather is warm. Over the weekend, there were numerous reports of stings. Each year, dozens of stings are in records. Reports suggest all of the victims were discharged from the hospital. They were receiving the anti-venom injection. 

“Floods that were affected by Aswan led to scorpions coming out of the slaughterhouses in the mountains to taste some villagers,” a Facebook moderator updates on Facebook. The Egyptian deserts are home to twenty-four different varieties of scorpions. he ones that came crawling into the dwellings in the torrent are known as deathstalkers, and their sting may kill youngsters and sicken an adult to the point of death.
