Bitcoin investor Jon Collins-Black has set up a real-life treasure hunt across the United States, hiding $2 million worth of treasures in five chests. The 38-year-old millionaire announced that anyone with curiosity and determination has a chance to claim the loot—provided they can crack the clues hidden in his newly released book, There’s Treasure Inside.
The book, filled with puzzles, maps, and hints, is the key to locating the treasures. Collins-Black insists the clues are accessible to everyone, stating, “You don’t have to be a genius to solve the clues. There’s no grand cipher. If you have curiosity, imagination, and the willingness to try something new, you can find the treasures that I’ve hidden.”
What’s inside the treasure?
Each chest contains an eclectic mix of rare and valuable items, including:
- Rare Pokémon cards
- A 1986 Michael Jordan rookie card
- A diamond and sapphire brooch once owned by Jacqueline Onassis
- A fourth-century BCE Greek gold laurel
- Gold doubloons recovered from shipwrecks
- A coin designed by Pablo Picasso
- A rare lunar rock specimen
- A single Bitcoin, currently valued at nearly $100,000
Collins-Black spent years curating the contents, ensuring a mix of historical artifacts, pop culture items, and cryptocurrency to make the hunt enticing.
Where to start?
The millionaire reassures participants that all the chests are in safe and accessible locations. None are on private property or in hazardous areas. He adds that each treasure is hidden within three miles of a public road, making it accessible to anyone willing to embark on the adventure.
The inspiration for the treasure hunt struck Collins-Black during the COVID-19 lockdown. “I wanted to create something that would inspire people to explore, think, and dream again,” he said.
