The mother of a 10-year-old Kentucky boy, Jayden Spicer, whose remains were discovered a week after he was reported missing, is facing multiple criminal charges, including manslaughter.
The Body of Jayden Spicer Was Found Buried in a Heavily Wooded Area
Kentucky State Police confirmed that the body of Jayden Spicer was found on Tuesday, August 12, buried in a heavily wooded area along Canoe Road in Jackson. The search, which involved drones, K9 units, sonar equipment, and dozens of volunteers, ended in tragedy around 3 p.m.
Trooper Matt Gayheart expressed gratitude for the community’s support during the week-long search.
“Thank you to every person that sent tips or even shared a social media post. Thank you for the many prayers that were prayed, and we ask that you continue to pray for a community that grieves during this tragic loss,” Gayheart said.
Who Is Felicia Gross?
Felicia Gross, 33, is Jayden’s mother and the primary suspect in his death. She has been charged with:
- Manslaughter
- Abuse of a corpse
- Tampering with physical evidence
- Falsely reporting an incident
Gross is being held at the Kentucky River Regional Jail and is awaiting arraignment. Authorities have not yet released details about the events leading up to Jayden’s death.
Community Shock and Unanswered Questions
Jayden’s aunts, Chyy Salyers and Samantha Bunty, have publicly voiced doubts about the information released so far.
“There’s some stuff that just doesn’t add up in this case,” Salyers told Upper Michigan’s Source.
Bunty described Jayden as a sweet, active boy who loved to stay busy but disliked bugs and the dark.
Ongoing Investigation
Jayden’s body has been sent to the Kentucky Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for an autopsy. Prosecutors say the Breathitt County community is deeply shaken.
“Jayden is now in good hands, and we are going to take care of him,” said Miranda King with the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.
Authorities have not indicated whether additional charges could be filed as the investigation continues.
