Aldi has announced a recall of roughly 25,000 pounds of frozen Casa Mamita Chicken and Cheese Taquitos after customers reported finding metal fragments in the product. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) confirmed that at least one person suffered a “dental injury” after consuming the taquitos.
Details of the recall
The affected items include 20-ounce packages of taquitos manufactured by Bestway Sandwiches, Inc. They were produced on July 3, 2024, and September 25, 2024, according to FSIS. The recall applies to packages with best-by dates of July 3, 2025, and September 25, 2025, and the establishment number “EST. P-40327” printed on the packaging.
The FSIS stated: “The problem was discovered after the firm notified FSIS that it received a consumer complaint reporting that a piece of metal was found in the frozen chicken and cheese taquito product. Another consumer reported a dental injury.” Customers are urged to check their freezers for the recalled product, as some may still be in households despite being removed from store shelves.
States affected by the recall
The taquitos were distributed across multiple states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, New York, and more. A full list of impacted states includes 33 locations, ranging from Washington, D.C., to Vermont and Wisconsin.
Aldi has advised customers to either dispose of the contaminated products or return them to any store location for a full refund. While Aldi’s official website did not list the recall on its page as of Monday, the company had reportedly shared the announcement earlier.
