Will Smith Reportedly Struggling to Maintain Lavish Lifestyle Post-Oscars Controversy

Will Smith is reportedly facing mounting financial pressures, as his multi-million-dollar fortune has taken a hit in recent years. According to sources, the costs associated with managing multiple luxury properties are proving overwhelming, further compounding the strain on his resources.

The decline in the actor’s earnings follows the highly publicised Oscars incident in March 2022, where Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock on stage in response to a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s alopecia. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences responded by banning Smith from attending the Oscars for a decade.

Marriage Reportedly on the Rocks as Couple Lives Separately

Insiders have revealed that Will and Jada are currently living in separate homes, with Smith still footing the bills for both residences. RadarOnline reports that the couple’s relationship is strained, and a permanent separation may be on the horizon.

“The couple cannot hold out much longer,” an insider told the outlet, noting that it’s becoming increasingly difficult for Smith to support the extravagant lifestyle the pair has grown accustomed to.

Box Office Returns Not Enough to Stabilise Smith’s Finances

Despite some recent commercial success, Smith’s latest film Bad Boys: Ride or Die—which grossed over $404 million globally—has reportedly done little to turn around his financial situation. While the film performed well at the box office, sources claim it did not provide the actor with a substantial windfall capable of sustaining his lavish expenses.

“The income is no longer matching the lifestyle,” a source added, suggesting that Smith’s financial situation remains precarious.

Oscar Slap Still Haunts Will Smith’s Public Image

The 2022 Oscars incident continues to cast a long shadow over Smith’s career. During the ceremony, Chris Rock made a “G.I. Jane” joke referencing Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head—an appearance shaped by her alopecia diagnosis. Smith reacted by walking onto the stage and slapping Rock, a moment that shocked the live audience and global viewers alike.

The fallout from the incident significantly damaged Smith’s public image, leading to his exclusion from future Academy events and, according to insiders, reducing the actor’s opportunities in Hollywood.
